Brighter times on the horizon for Queensland…

May 1, 2020 by Joscelyn O'Keefe

Queensland is set to be rewarded for the hard work that residents have put in over the last few trying weeks.

Whilst the fight against COVID-19 continues, and as a country we should remain diligent in our efforts regarding social distancing, there are silver linings on the horizon for those of us here in the Whitsundays and at Coral Sea Marina Resort.

Queensland premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, recently announced the lifting of certain restrictions from next weekend thanks to the growing evidence that Australia is flattening the curve. From Saturday 2nd May, Queenslanders are welcome to go for a short drive, have a picnic, and shop for certain non-essential items.

In addition, and what possibly excites us most here at CSMR, is the opening of our waterways and national parks for recreation. Recreational boating will be permitted in Queensland just in time for the long weekend and our beautiful national parks will be open for exploration.

Whilst as a community we have been in ‘hibernation’, the natural wonders of the Whitsundays have continued to thrive. This is a chance for locals to take in our surroundings and truly appreciate the beauty of our backyard.

We expect to see many smiling faces on the docks and at the boat ramp this weekend and we encourage all to reward yourselves with a day out on the water, a walk along one of our national park trails, or enjoy a picnic on a beach or park. We request that you all continue to comply with social distancing regulations and only venture out with members of your household or one close friend.

Whilst we still have a way to go on the journey back to normality, we want to take some time to soak up this positive news and keep connected with you all. We look forward to welcoming locals back to the marina and are counting down the days until we can welcome our valued guests from further afield.

We wanted to share this video from Tourism Australia, which will hopefully provide a little travel inspiration for all… CLICK HERE TO VIEW
