Coral Sea Marina Resort is happily located at the very heart of the Whitsundays’ mainland coastline, within Airlie Beach. You’ll feel a world away in this idyllic town, known as the gateway to the mainland, islands and reef, and yet it is incredibly accessible.
Whether by air, by land or by water, there are numerous hassle-free ways to journey to this incredible destination.
- Getting Here by Air
Getting Here by Air
There are two domestic airports located within the Whitsundays, both of which offer daily flights from many of Australia’s major cities.
Whitsunday Coast Airport (Proserpine | PPP)
Located just a short 30 minute drive inland from Airlie Beach on the mainland, Whitsunday Coast Airport offers daily direct services from Brisbane and connecting flights from other cities, as well as frequent direct flights to Sydney. There are numerous transport options to choose from upon your arrival, where airport buses and taxis meet every flight, plus car hire available from the airport.
Great Barrier Reef Airport (Hamilton Island | HTI)
Located on Hamilton Island, this airport welcomes direct daily services from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Cairns. A scheduled ferry service meets every flight and transfers guests from Hamilton Island airport to Airlie Beach. Alternatively, private air transfers can be arranged via helicopter or light aircraft between the island and mainland.
- Airport Transfers
Airport Transfers
Whilst there are quite a few options to choose from at Whitsunday Coast airport itself, the Bus shuttle services are easily the most cost-friendly and hassle free.
Pricing is only from $25 one way \ $42 return per adult. We recommend pre-booking your transfers in advance to save any unwanted stress for your arrival. We can happily book on your behalf and add the cost to your room for ease and convenience.
If arriving into Hamilton Island airport, you can also pre-book in advance your Cruise Whitsundays ferry transfer to Airlie Beach, pricing for this option from $60 per adult one way.
- Getting Here by Road
Getting Here by Road
Coral Sea Marina Resort, Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday mainland coast is easily accessible by road. The Bruce Highway is the major road running along the Queensland coast linking it’s cities and towns. The township of Airlie Beach is just a short 20 minute drive off the Bruce Highway, at Proserpine, along Shute Harbour Road.
Proserpine is located 1120m north of Brisbane, 150km north of Mackay, or 630km south of Cairns. Therefore, many national bus/coach operators (such as Greyhound Australia and Premier Transport Group) daily pass through Airlie Beach on their journeys up and down the Australian coast.
Another, less common option, would be to hop on a Queensland Rail Service, such as the Spirit of Queensland, which links Proserpine to all the major destinations from Cairns to Brisbane and beyond. Similarly, transfer buses will greet every arriving train.
